What is the easiest way to bore a hole in a thick piece of wood?
I want the diameter to be about 10 or 15cm. I don’t want to bore completely through the wood – just about 10cm down. What tool or strategy would you recommend?
Suggestion by cowboydoc
Use a ten cm. drill bit, a “bottom bit” would give you a clean cut.

Use an auger and auger bit of the right size. You will be able to bore precisely how far down you want.

A 6″ hole is pretty big. I would use a router with the cutting bit set to the right depth.

are you sure you mean centimeter’s ..not millimeter’s you wont get a drill bit that size just like that and would need an industrial type drill to fit it .. go with answer no 3
