How can I get the rail system for a DeWalt Table Saw (DW746x)?
I have a DeWalt DW746x table saw that came without the 30″ rail system. I need the rail system, but cannot figure out how to get it or a decent alternative.

Suggestion by Big Deal Maker

How thick can a 10″ Table saw cut in one pass?
I want to buy a 10″ table saw. I was wondering what is an average thickness that this saw will cut. Can it cut something like a 4″X4″ in one cut? Thx

Suggestion by STEVEN F
10″ is the diameter of the blade. That means the distance from the center of the blade to the edge is 5″. Given that you can’t cut all the way to the center of the blade, a 4″ deep cut is pushing the limit at best.

Suggestion by Dan H
No. A 10″ table saw will not cut 3.5″ depth in one pass. Most will do about 3″ or a bit better. You would need to flip the 4×4 stock over and make another pass.

Suggestion by ONTHEMOVE
Some 10″ saws will cut 3-1/2″ in one pass. It depends on the drive type. I have used many large shop-saws that are belt driven which do not make the 3-1/2″ cut in one pass but I have used other portable saws that are direct drive (Makita in particular) that will cut to 3-5/8″ in one pass.

I always found it amusing that a 5hp 3-phase shop saw won’t cut through 4X but my little 110V 15 A portable will!

How much is a 10″ Delta Table Saw with a broken motor worth?
My parents have a 10″ Delta Table Saw that they are trying to sell. It’s about 9 or 10 years old and wasn’t used very much. It hasn’t been used at all in the last 2 or 3 years and now has a frozen motor. I’m trying to help them sell it but have no idea what to ask for it or if I should just give it away to anyone who is willing to haul it off. Anyone have any suggestions???

Suggestion by makes_us_smile
First off, Delta is not high quality. Secondly, with a useless motor, it is probably worth no more than $ 20 to $ 50 bucks.

Suggestion by Kenneth
Harbor Tool usually have motors for these saws…..Cost…About $ 125.00….See if you can find someone that can disassemble the old motor…It may just be clogged with sawdust or rust

Suggestion by Dave
It’s worth the price of scrap metal. Maybe you could take the motor to someone who could unseize it. It’s not worth the cost of putting a new motor in it.

Suggestion by Albert W
Hi There,

A new Delta 10 inch table saw will cost $ 400- on more depending upon the model.

If you can remove the motor, take it to an electric motor repair shop and they can fix it.
Unsticking a frozen motor is sometimes not difficult ( or expensive).

Once the motor has been repaired you probably can sell the saw for $ 150- to $ 200-.
Again that will depend upon the condition and appearance of the saw.

Look in the telephone book for “electric motor repair” to repair the motor. A good motor shop can repair any motor just get an estimate.
Note: a new motor will cost about $ 180-.

While looking on the internet I noticed most of the retailers of 10 inch table saws were “out of stock”. I do not know why that is but perhaps there is a shortage.

Hope this helps,
Al

can a saw blade from a circular saw be safely used on a table saw?

Suggestion by itsnotarealname
Yes. As long as you have the right diametre, you’ll be OK. I routinely swap blades between my circular, table and mitre saws.

Suggestion by rchlbsxy2
Possibly, but why take a chance? if it goes wrong it’ll kill you.

You should only use something as dangerous as that in the correct way in the correct device.

Suggestion by tom jonz
Yes it can, no problem. Just make sure the roation is correct.

Suggestion by Spud55
Yes, as long as the arbor is the right size for the blade.

Should I use a Circular Saw or Table Saw for Laminate Flooring install?
Hi, I want to install a 12mm High Gloss Laminate, from LL and I want to know want would be the best tool to cut the laminate. would need straight and diagonal cuts made for my space. if you could point (link) to the specific tool I need that would be even better thank you all.
Laminate planks would need to be cut length wise as well about 2ft to 4 ft so a miter saw, doesn’t look like a good solution.

Suggestion by JimT
razor knife and a sraight edge

Suggestion by houseofjoseph2000
Circular saw or table saw..It depends on the blade.. You need a fine tooth blade for either.. That is where the difference between a ragged cut and an un chipped cut is achieved..

Suggestion by boredstiff8
neither u need……….. a miter saw

Suggestion by norcekri
I’d suggest the table saw, for stability and consistency of the cuts. The critical choice is the blade, even more than the saw: make sure that the blade teeth are fine enough and rated for laminate.
The specific tool depends a lot on your budget, the material dimensions (you gave us only the thickness), and the angle cuts you need (45 only?). You can probably get some good advice at your local dealer. The big-box stores (Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.) can probably help enough, but you might get a couple of fine pointers from the woodworking pros as well (Rockler, Woodcrafter).

Buying a Table Saw for Husband- What should I look for?
I am buying a table saw for my hubby for X-Mas. What kind do you recommend? What should I look for? I am not looking for anything too expensive or intricate. Just a starter saw.

Suggestion by wen s
i had a ryobi for 99 bucks about 5 years ago, i cut plenty with it and it never give me any problems, later i brought a whole set of ryobi cordless tools, i am not a professional builder because of it, can’t live without it

buy ryobi at homedepot

Suggestion by hghostinme
If its simple try a Mastercraft brand they are inexpensive and what is called a table top model…that is one you set on a table without a stand……he can always insert it in a table or make legs for it…using the table saw…..a 10inch is about normal for around the house repairs and or crafts…if you purchase a brand name such as Craftsman or Ryobi and such they are good but really about the same……i have a mastercraft brand….and have had it for about 12 years now….still works like new and believe me its had ALOT of Use and i mean ALOT !!! Good Luck !!!

Suggestion by jamie p
well even if its a stsrter saw 5 cuts from a cheap saw is worth on cut from a good saw i highley recormend makita ther so reliable i have alot of builders in my family and we all use them they are money well spent

Suggestion by DIYpro
What a wonderful wife you are!

The main thing is not to buy an off-brand. Personally, I would go with DeWalt or Ryobi. But that’s just me. A bench-top is most likely what you want. They are not that expensive and they are very portable.

You can wait for a sale at Home Depot or Lowes to maximize your savings. Another thing not to go cheap on is the blade. Even the best saw will under perform with a junk blade.

Here is a link that talks about this kind of saw…
