Can a Band Saw blade be coiled into a even number of rings?
When coiling up a Band Saw blade for storage, it is usually coiled into 3 or 5 coils (an odd number). Is it possible to coil it into a even number like 4 coils? I’ve heard some people say it can be done and that they’ve seen it done into 4 coils but they can’t prove it. I think it can’t be done but I don’t have the proof or reasoning to prove it. If it can be done I would like to know how or if it can’t, why it can’t. Thanks

nope in order for the blade to finish in a nice coil with the teeth all facing the same way it will always take two turns. starting out you have the original one coil if you will and with each twist you will always add two. from one to three to 5 to 7 to 9. I have rolled some pretty large and skinny band saw blades 48″ wheel 16″ clear x 1/4 inch wide I asked myself the same question about thirty years ago and started twisting. as small as I got the blade (6″ dia) it was always odd.2 turns plus the 1 initial.
