How do you lift up the scroll saw blade?
I need to cut out these letters and one is an “A” how do I lift the blade to cut out the middle?

on most saws you will have to drill a hole Little bigger than the blade then pull the blade apart from one side of the arm push it through the hole reattach then cut
OR you can put a line cut along the “cross bar of the A”

Basilisk, You have to disconnect one of the ends of the saw blade. Then drill a hole in the middle of the wooden “A”. Then very carefully slide the blade through the hole you drilled in the “A”. Then re-connect the saw blade and your ready to cut it out to look like an “A”. Then disconnect when your happy it looks like what you want. This Starrett Duratec PH carbon steel band saw blade has a regular tooth, straight rake angle, hard back, and a raker tooth set for creating straight cuts on low-alloy steels, nickel-based alloys, and other nonferrous alloys. The regular tooth has a straight (zero) rake angle for general-purpose cutting. The blade can make cuts in solid, structural, and tubular shapes, as well as solid and tubular bundles. It is made of a single piece of carbon steel and has heat-treated teeth that can make cuts in materials up to 50 HRC (Rockwell hardness). The back of the blade has also been heat treated, providing increased rigidity for straighter cuts. The blade has a raker tooth set, which alternates between left-leaning, right-leaning, and unset teeth, for increased chip evacuation that reduces clogging. This band saw blade works for general-purpose and light-duty cutting.

Band saw blades are long, continuous bands of metal that loop around the wheels of band saws and can make straight or curved cuts in metal, wood, stone, plastic, and other materials. When purchasing band saw blades, consider the application, as this will affect the tooth rake, tooth set, pitch, and size of the blade. Band saw blades are available with a positive rake angle or a straight (also called zero) rake angle, and with a raker, wavy, or alternate tooth set. Pitch (the number of teeth per inch or per 25.4 mm) affects the type of finish and may be constant or variable. Band saw blades are available in different lengths and width to fit the requirements of specific band saws.
