Flat spade-like gardening tool… what is it?
Today at a garage sale I saw a gardening tool that looks kind of like a spade. Here is a crude picture:
= is the haft
D is the blade
Unlike a spade, the face of the blade was flat, NOT concave. The edges of the head were in a straight line with the haft. The blade was shaped like a half circle about ten inches across at the flat edge. Any idea what this thing is, and what it is was used for?

Maw is right again. It’s called a turf edger.

This kind of shovel is used for a variety of specific uses. The blade isn’t rounded, but completely flat. If you want to learn more about lawn care tools, you may check this following link.
