Do I need to use the base cabinet with a Jet 22-44 Oscillating Drum Sander?
Hi,
I am ready to add a drum sander to my shop. However, I have no more room in my shop for free standing machines. Is it possible to use the Jet 22-44 Oscillating Drum Sander with it sitting directly on some sort of mobile base? I am hoping to store it under my table saw extension table.
Thanks,
Bill

not for light sanding, but any eggressive sanding will tip it over.I would suggest adding a piece of plate steal to the bottom of it for counter weight, so I will still be short and stable.

Imagine dragging that heavy drum sander out from under your saw and pulling it up onto a table that would itself need storage space. Or relocating it each time you want to use (roll out) your saw or router. I’d start by organizing the garage and creating a zone into which all cabinet tools will be placed. Be sure each cabinet rests on its own high quality set of casters and is readily accessible. Move the car or garden tractor from your work area to the driveway and roll a cabinet out and into place as needed. You might find that all your cabinet tools can be grouped into an area as small as 50 square feet while still allowing reasonable access. While not an ideal situation, there aren’t many good alternatives. Like a pool table, no home wood shop ever has enough space.

sewing machine question?
i saw this a couple months back and i dont know what it is called or even a brand.
it was a sewing machine on a table but when u turned it off it tucked itself under the table so it look just like a normal table on top

Any sewing machine in a cabinet will tuck its self under. What you are looking for is a cabinet machine and not a table model. You could use a table model if it had a way of attaching itself to a fold down shelf
