Do I have a rat or mouse infestation in my home?
Hello everyone. This morning I woke up and headed to the kitchen and I sat down at my computer and all of a sudden I hear this scratching noise coming from underneath the stove, the noise was like a dog scratching a closed door. I was a bit confused because we have no household pets and I was wondering if I have a rat or mouse infestation. I called my mother’s cell phone and told her what I had heard then she said that she was coming right up to check it out. When my mother came she opened the cabinet and checked all of them one by one, but there was nothing there, then she said if I heard anything else to call her. About an hour passed and the noise started up again so I walk slowly to the phone and called my mother again and she came back up to check it out once more, but before I called her I checked the cabinets myself and I found a whole, the whole was a circular shape and it is probably small enough to put your pinkie finger inside. My mom came up and she saw the whole and she told me that it was probably not a mouse or a rat. Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you.

It’s probably a mouse. . . they can squeeze into the smallest holes. Call an exterminator ASAP! Good Luck!

MIce can compact themselves to fit through very small holes, but, you have not yet found any little mice turds? I can only guess that the mouse comes out to feed, and retreats back into it’s nest. Careful not to poison it, for it will only retreat back into its nest and die, really smelling up your place. IF you have a mouse trap, I hate to say it, because I love animals, but a quick spring that will cut off it’s head, is the humane way to end a life, no pain, very quick, but sort of grisly in the process, or you could try and bait the mouse, with some stinky cheese, and see if you can trap it into some kind of cage/container…. that would be ‘nicer’ to do… I think it is a rodent, because of your hearing the scratches, and finding the little hole….

Don’t panic…sounds like a mouse. They can fir thru small holes. Stuff a piece of steel wool in the hole, like a piece of SOS pad. They cannot chew thru that.
Then go outside and look for the hole/s where the mouse is getting inside. Plug those also.

I think it is a mouse or rat…..working on making a whole. You know what steel wool is? You use it to clean pots and pans…….stuff some in the hole. But they may try and start another to get in.
