I know they are around 18 dollars, but why spend that when it can be resharpened with a dremel tool with a grinding stone! It takes me about 20 minutes to complete a 10 inch chop saw blade.

High-Alternating-Top-Bevel Teeth offer Versatility and Clean Finishes
This thin-kerf blade’s 60-tooth high-alternating-top-bevel (Hi-ATB) configuration features a large number of small teeth that face both left and right–a setup that ensures clean crosscuts and splinter-free finishes, even when working with hard-to-handle materials like laminates. This setup paired with Freud’s anti-vibration technology results in cuts so smooth that they eliminate the need for a stabilizer or a scoring blade.

This blade is designed for optimal performance when cutting materials that are 1/4 to 1-5/8 inches thick, including hard- and softwood, chipboard, plywood, laminates, and melamine. The blade can also handle ripping wood, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.079 kerf.

Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work–a feature that’s especially important when working with plywood or laminates. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use.

High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This thin-kerf saw blade’s 60 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud’s application-specific TiCo high-density carbide “crosscut blend.” Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge in the face of demanding crosscut applications, this blend is extra hard–due to including more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends–and it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.

With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer–saving you time and money.

Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup
Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud’s red Perma-SHIELD–a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.

As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or “pitch” buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.

This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud’s limited lifetime warranty.

Can I safely use a 5in circular saw blade in a saw that came with a 5.5in blade?

Can I safely use a 5in circular saw blade in a saw that came with a 5.5in blade?
I can’t find a 5.5in cement saw blade to fit my Kawasaki 21.6v circular saw. I don’t want to dull the 5.5in blade that came with the saw trying to cut cement board. Can I use a 5in fiber cement blade with the saw even though the recommended blade size is 5.5in?

Suggestion by Irv S
A smaller blade is safe.
Don’t exceed the recommended RPM for the blade in question though.

Suggestion by nedree@verizon.net
no problem.

As long as the arbor hole is the same diameter you will be ok.

More or less teeth on a circular saw blade to increase feed rate?
I’m cutting sheets of MDF using a circular saw and need to know if more or less teeth on the blade can allow for a faster feed rate. The quality of the cut is not that important. Ideally I want the fastest feed rate possible without the blade struggling to get through the material.

Suggestion by D
higher tpi gives smooth cleaner finish less tpi will give a faster but messy finish.

Suggestion by fishfry
The more teeth the blade has the finer the cut,the less teeth the rougher the cut, a rough cut blade is used when you need to cut faster and dont care about the edge.

Suggestion by woodtick314
Fewer teeth = higher feed rate. Also make sure the blade is sharp, as a dull blade will bog the saw down. A blade with 16 teeth will be your best bet. Hope this helps.

Suggestion by Jason
I’ve never had a problem cutting mdf with a 24 tooth blade in my wormdrive.

Makes Clean, Chip-Free Cuts in Delicate Finish Work
Achieving premium results when creating finish crosscuts in ultra-fine materials is all about clean, accurate cuts. The Freud D0760X makes this process easy, fast, and precise. To save you time, most cuts made by this blade require little to no sanding.

Trim carpenters, fine cabinetmakers, and avid do-it-yourselfers will want to keep this blade on hand for those special jobs that call for making ultra-fine finish crosscuts in delicate pieces. Appropriate application materials include oak, pine, melamine, veneer plywood, and delicate molding.

Produces Smooth, Quiet Cuts with Laser-Cut Kerf
The Freud D0760X’s clean-cutting design means that you can enjoy the comfort of smooth performance. The thin 0.59-inch kerf between the blade’s 60 ATB (alternate-top bevel) teeth is laser cut to provide ease of feed, so you have more control over the blade’s position. This helps maximize both the accuracy of the cut and the efficiency of your work, so you enjoy a job well done and the ability to complete more tasks in less time.

An added bonus, the blade’s laser-cut stabilizer vents reduce noise and vibration during operation, keeping your work environment more relaxed and your hands more in control. This feature also reduces friction and warping, helping to extend the blade’s cutting life.

Features Shock-Resistant Carbide for Long-Lasting Precision
So you can count on it over the long term, the Freud D0760X is designed for durability. The blade’s hardy teeth are protected by Freud’s exclusive shock-resistant TiCo Hi-Density Carbide formula, which helps fight wear and tear and maintains blade sharpness up to four times longer than standard carbide. And protecting the blade is Perma-Shield Non-Stick Coating that provides resistance to heat and corrosion.

Fits Circular Saws
The Freud D0760X is a great addition to your workshop because it’s designed with the versatility to fit a variety of circular saws.

This product is covered by Freud’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

ryobi circular saw blade change- which direction do you turn the bolt to loosen it?

Suggestion by moon j
Same direction as a clock goes. Clock wise. The arrows direction on the ring saids counter clockwise to tighten. So…go clock wise to loosen hex nut.

Suggestion by Jed S
It depends on which type of saw. If it is a worm drive, there will be a small button on the front of the motor casing which will serve as a blade stop, and the bolt should be turned clockwise, to the right, which seems backwards. If it is not a worm drive, there is no blade stop and the bolt removes counter clockwise, to the left. Look closely at the bolt itself, they usually have an arrow indicating on or off. A worm drive saw has the motor running the same direction as the blade. A regular power saw has the motor cross ways, so it is shorter but fatter. Worm drives are more powerful and usually used by construction crews. Good luck, Jed.

Suggestion by unpop5
It is a standard thred. Turn to the left to loosen. Or the same direction as the saw turns.
