14″ Delta band saw for cutting metal?
I was looking at buying this bandsaw and plan on pretty much only cutting 20 gauge sheet metal with it. Would that work good for me with the proper blade? Also, how accurate can you rip straight lines using a fence with a bandsaw?

what you need is a metal shear
go to harbor freight.com or northern tool.com
for what you would pay for a 14 inch band saw you can get a shear,
it will cut the metal in thin strips and has an adjustment for what ever the width you want
and cut it straight
a band saw will weave , it won,t cut straight

Yes, with the proper blade and blade tension it will work good for you. The sheer is a good idea if you are only making straight cuts, but if you intend on making cuts other than straight, a band saw will work. As far as accuracy, it won’t cut as clean as a sheer, but if your blade has the proper tension and you are using a fence, you should get good results.

Using a miter saw as a chop saw?
I have a cheap $ 99 Ryobi 10″ miter saw, I want to know if I can safely put the 10″ metal cutting chop saw blade that I bought,on this miter saw for minimal cutting of some steel rod.
maybe 20 cuts or so.
Okay, I did it, and it did work, I was cutting through some 1″ solid steel rod, it ate up the blade pretty good. got to a point where I couldn’t go any further. The mail down fall is that the miter saw is designed for quick short cuts not 5 min continious cuts. My saw got very over heated. I would not do this with a high dollar saw, if you have an old junker fine.

Go slow and watch for flying sparks, wear goggles and you should be OK

You sure can, just be sure you get the right kind of blade, and something else you need to do, clean out all of the saw dust from the saw, other wise it could catch fire from the sparks. I know it sounds dumb, but saw dust will smolder with out you knowing, and then all of a sudden you have a fire on your hands. Be safe.
